I visited Lord Chitragupta temple in Kanchipuram yesterday (17/11/2024), after a gap of 25 years. Now, I could see a lot of changes in the temple. It has been fully renovated and there is a big hall at the back side of the temple for meditators.
I sat in the prakaram for half an hour in deep meditation. I went very deep and the space around me changed completely into its original state like in ancient times. I sensed the presence of Lord Chitragupta’s holy being hovering around me in the space. I prayed for his blessings with utmost humbleness.
In this temple, bakthas offer horse gram and moong dal to the deity and take it back home, soak it overnight and feed it to cattle the next day. Devotees do this to get rid of all the Doshas. This is an age old custom being followed in this temple.
